Rationalisation in PCB manufacturing through the use of “TAPE and REEL” packaging for SMD connectors

With the growing popularity of printed circuit board assembly being shifted to so-called "contract assembly services," the call for SMD connector manufacturers offering products in "tape & reel" packaging has also increased. Fischer Elektronik is meeting this demand by offering more and more of its existing connector types in the "tape & reel" format. Newly developed SMD connectors are now available in packaging suitable for direct use in automated placement equipment. Thanks to our newly acquired machine, packaging of components on tape has been carried out in-house for six months now. This has saved a tremendous amount of time, as it eliminates the need to ship the parts to tape and reel services. And the concomitant improvement to inline production saves even more time. Practical combinations of several pin layouts are consolidated on one tape for individual series. This way, the multiplicity of different tapes can be kept within reasonable limits, thus ensuring economic packaging. We also develop and produce customised tape and reel packaging solutions.
